Fashion fuckery, design geekery and some good old fashioned sleaze, baby you need some rock ‘n’ roll and new Scottish t-shirt brand We are 1 of 100 have it in spades. It’s a tired trope but fuck it, sometimes you need to get back to the basics. I’m of the school of thought that everyone needs a great button down, the perfect pair of jeans and yeah – a great goes-with-pretty-much-everything t-shirt. It’s timeless, easy and well, when one of your all time blogging heroes Queen Michelle from Kingdom of Style is the designer – it’s kind of a no-brainer for the old wardrobe.

We are 1 of 100 launched late last year with the mission statement of bringing together some of their favorite creatives to design limited runs of kick ass t-shirts. Djs, illustrators, fashionistas – the focus is on working with interesting people with a story to tell. The first run of t-shirts see designs from record label Darkroom Dubs, musicians The Golden Filter and of course blogger Queen Michelle from Kingdom of Style. They make 100 of each t-shirt, each individually numbered (you select your number yourself) and once they’re gone they’re gone. Pretty neat huh?
It’s no secret that Queen Michelle is one of the reasons I got in to blogging and is my all time style crush. Her t-shirt – influenced by her design hero David Carson -the granddaddy of “grunge typography” – just oozes effortless cool. You can read more about her design process over on KoS but I loved how Queen Michelle described his approach to design – ” He showed us that great design is as much an emotional experience as an informative one.” It’s an approach that doesn’t so much throw out the rule book as it tears it up, sets it alight and scatters the ashes in the wind.
We are 1 of 100 have their current drop on their site now (including Queen Michelle’s design) so if you’re any way in to great fucking t-shirts designed by creatives with a story, get in while the getting is good. Cause we could all do with a little bit more rock ‘n’ roll.
