When it comes to fashion I’m a firm believer in never saying never ever. That said there’s certain things I tend to avoid to try and avoid to at least give off the impression of having a modicum of good taste (lol.) Those things being over accessorising, rainbow anything and the 80s. And the 80’s are back baby, at least if Dundee designer Hayley Scanlan has anything to say about it.
Hayley Scanlan’s 11th collection “Fierce Feline” uses Michael Jackson and Scanlan’s mother in the 80s as her two core sartorial touchstones. Of course all the signatures Scanlan has crafted for herself over the years are present and correct – asymmetrical zips and slick faux leathers, though this season really leans in to 80s hedonism. HARD. From wide legged full sequinned trousers to to candy apple red snakeskin dresses, Fierce Feline is bold, brash and more than just a little bit sexy. It’s the ultimate party collection designed to be the antithesis of wall-flower wear – whether that’s thanks to sequinned caping, full sheer bodysuits or thigh high splits.
Understated glamour is out and maximalism is here to stay with a punchy and powerful collection from Hayley Scanlan. Because who needs another little black dress am I right?
