Clashing checks may not seem like the most obvious of sartorial steps, but if there’s one thing I know and love it’s a good clash. All my favourite combos are things that shouldn’t work together; pink and red, socks and sandals, clashing patterns, and yeah, different types of checks can be added to that list now too. The real trick to it though? Keeping it classic.

Classic silhouettes give you more freedom to work with clashing prints. Vivien of Holloway all but specialise in timeless cuts, made to transition seasons, focusing more on style than trends with their easy to layer vintage inspired pieces. Pair that with the bold prints of a contemporary designer like Jonathan Saunders (on his final collaboration with Radley) and you get the perfect fashion pic and mix. It’s not rocket science, it’s more fashion paint by numbers. And sometimes, it’s just nice to paint outside the lines.
