It’s Lydia Deetz meets Corpse Bride this season for Sophia Webster. Her darkest collection to date sees her teaming up with Edward Meadham for her gothic infused presentation “I myself am strange and unusual.” Gone are the candy coloured brights and neon flourishes Webster has become known for as AW16 sees her go over to the dark side.
Dark romance marries teen angst with purple butterflies and lace boots sitting alongside her trademark bags featuring slogans such as “Drop Dead Gorgeous” and “Bored to Death.” Webster has always been known for her humour infused designs but never has the tongue been so firmly in cheek as it is here. From jewelled heels to dark floral applique climbing thigh high boots, this is a far cry from Webster’s Barbie collaboration last year.
Her bridal line continues to expand with Victoriana inspired lace up boots and her now iconic “Wifey for Lifey”clutch that will have the hearts of brides and non brides a-like pitter pattering. By partnering with Meadham she once more has create an immsesive presentation fusing humour, romance and elegance. It really is no wonder that Webster’s presentations have become a hot favourite of the fashion pack.
