Shrimps is the perfect antidote to minimalist fashion. With a 60s biker girl vibe and polka dot Yayoi Kusama would be proud of, Shrimps AW16 collection is a high octane fun mash up of clashing colours and textures. All the candy shop coloured faux furs we’ve come to expect of Shrimps are on show here with her trademark striped over sized scarves and coats as the centrepieces of the collection. This is beautifully contrasted with baby pink co-ords, black velvet suits and pretty a-line party dresses. Basically it’s the girl gang you wish you were part of.
Shrimps isn’t afraid to clash with cherry reds and soft pastel pinks. It’s the preppy girl meet the bad girl – a sort of polished punk (could there be a bigger oxymoron?) – fusing classic shapes and bringing them straight in to the 21st century. The handrawn prints adorning faux fur and sheer hems are a key feature of the collection, with the face coat being a true stand out piece.
Fashion’s hasn’t had a love affair with clashing as much as a full blown marriage and it’s back with force for AW. Forget tonal dressing this Winter, this year we’re going all out.
