Take 5: Gift for your Best Guys

Picking up gifts for the gents in your life can be a tricky business, especially when you don’t want to just default to the old classics of socks and wine. Shopping for my ladies has always been relatively easy as it’s always some variation of what I’d like for myself.  When shopping for dads, best guys, husbands, boyfriends, the lot, it can become a little tougher to work out. However there are some no brainers that make perfect presents for any man in your life, and I’ve rounded up my favourites.

For the adventurer

The days of trying to pack everything in their jean pockets is over. Any stigma around having a bag is gone and men the world over are investing in beautifully crafted bespoke accesorise. Catherine Aitken’s Wanderlust bag can be worn 4 ways including cross body, backpack and suitcase, making it a versatile piece of any wardrobe. Handcrafted in Scotland with Harris Tweed, these bags are built to last. Want something a little more pocket friendly? Pick up one of her gents toiletry bags. Whatever you go for, you’re sure to want to pinch it for yourself.

For the Pop Culture Nerd

For the pop culture nerd who likes receiving post (so basically, everyone right?) a subscription to Pin Post should shoot to the top of any Christmas list.  Every month they collaborate with someone new to bring new pins inspired from everything from Bill Murray to Twin Peaks. Miss a month? You can pick up your favourites on the site. With Mean Girls penned in for their January collab (a favourite film of my husbands) there’s never been a better time to subscribe.

For the foodie

If in doubt, pick up some homeware. You can’t go wrong with something for the kitchen. This ampersand cheeseboard is the perfect gift for any gent in your life from your boyfriend to a gift for your dad(as long as they like cheese and punctuation, and if they don’t, why the hell not?) DIY this baby up with a bunch of their favourite cheeses and some craft beers. It’s simple but is truly the kind of gift that can really feel extra special.

For the coffee lover

Who needs Starbucks when you can pick up some locally brewed coffee beans? Dear Green Coffee has become part of a Glasgow institution and has become a marker of quality when going to local coffee houses.  Pick up some ground beans, and if you’re feeling extra special add in an aeropress for coffee on the go.

For the guy with the big heart

For the style and the socially consious, there is only one gift that will do this holiday season. Kochiba watches are a new indie brand born in Scotland who sell beautiful wooden watches. That alone is a selling point, but a portion of their profits go towards Womankind. You can look good and do good this holiday season, and let’s face it, this little black box will look gorgeous under any tree.

That’s me sorted for Christmas! Everything is officially wrapped and under the tree! How are you doing for Christmas shopping?
