To say an Abandon Ship Apparell pop up in Glasgow is overdue is a bit of an understatement. Just a bit. Since launching ASA has developed a cult following and a bit of a reputation (not the bad kind, unless you count playing around in a strorm tropper suit on a mobility scooter as bad, in which case I don’t think we can be friends any more.) They’ve went from strength to strength, utterly smashing Europe and already making ripples Stateside. And now they’ve opened their first Glasgow Pop Up. The only question I have is – why did it take them so bloody long?
The shop looks flat out amazing -with this really clean, industrial feel. It’s a bit like visiting your best friends house. If you’re best friend is in to taxidermy, video games and hot sauce. Tattoo illustrations from past collaborations and previous events, suits of armour and wild boar – it all seems like it would be a bit disjointed (and it is) but it all feels so wonderfully right in the Abandon Ship boys little corner of Princes Square.
I’m not going to lie. I would never have called Princes Square as the
natural location for a cult lifestyle brand to set up shop for 3 month.
But after seeing it, it oddly fits. It may seem like having bearded
gents selling kitten balaclava’s next to Jo Malone, but in it’s own
twisted way it makes complete sense. The place looks great, the vibe is
amazing and holla up out of towners – it’s super easy to find and close
to all your key public transport.
My Swollocks and I, DIY Nails and Honey Pop. Clearly having the time of our lives.
With a few store exclusives in the pipeline and Christmas on the horizon, I’m super excited to see what the Abandon Ship lot do with their 3 month tenure in Princes Square. If there track record is anything to go by, it’s going to be bloody brilliant.
