Set in the opulent surroundings of 29 Private Members Club Scottish designer Marc Ross presented his latest collection. It’s a welcome return to design for Ross and his new collection did not disappoint. His collection is dark and sexy with his trademark edge. Spike and leather detailing features heavily throughout the collection.
For me it feels like a more mature collection for Ross – with his sleek elegant designs. The man knows his way around a dress and the collection played with textures and silhouettes. What I love about Marc’s designs is that yeah they look gorgeous on the models but they are the kind of designs that I can see easily transfer in to a real life environment. The collection has a very grown up contemporary feel and sticks to a palette of mostly blacks, greys and oxblood reds. I love the use of different textures throughout – tweed, beading, leather panels, studs and faux fur to mention a few. It feels very luxurious but also imitable. I think for many women (at least those there on the night) – Marc Ross creates an attainable gothic chic.
My favourite piece from the new collection include the gold and black beaded dress – you know I’m partial to a bit of sparkle.
The show was great – all new face models who did a wonderful job and looked great in the designs. Loved the dark lip with the ponytails – the girls looked polished and a bit sexy without detracting too much from the designs. 29 made a wonderful venue for show and made the perfect setting to show off Marc’s new collection.
Marc’s new website launches soon but until then you can keep tabs on him via facebook and twitter.
