So yeah, safe to say Menergy’s Fierce Ruling Divas Ball down at Che Camille‘s new pad on Saturday night was 11 types of amazing. Glasgow’s fiercest were out in force for a night of fashion, booze and vogueing. While the vogue off was definitely a highlight of the evening, matched only by the Nialists performance (I’ve found myself singing that song at least twice since Saturday, much to the boys determent)…the catwalk show and the lovely boys and girls of LVB totally blew me away. With fashion from Claire Fergeson, Reene Wetson, EuanMcWhirter ,Caitlin Paxton, Tasier Gabreel,Pure by Catriona Garforth, Feng Ho and Obscure Couture we were pretty much spoiled for choice. I think what I most enjoyed though was the models attitude. It was intensely refreshing to see these girls and boys dancing down the catwalk…looking fierce, but most of all, like they were having a good time.
My highlights of the evening were Claire Fergeson and Obscure Couture, obviously. That anarchy jacket had my heart a-flutter. Every time I’ve seen these designers showcased I’m always immensely impressed by their creativity. Euan McWhiter’s jewellery was pretty gorgeous too and the girls and guys from LVB really turned it out.
The use of space down the Barrowlands is amazing though. A place I long have accosted with people flogging knock off superdry and packs of discount smokes was transformed into a fashionistas paradise. The courtyard looked amazing, and there was this vibe unlike anything in Glasgow. There seems to be a real buzz just now with these style of events becoming increasingly more popular, and Che Camille seems to be helping produce some of the most exciting events of the moment. The Vogue Ball managed to be inclusive, while retaining that element of fantasy that all fashion needs. After the past few events Camille’s hosted, things can only get bigger and better from here – though this bad boy will be a tough act to follow.
All designs from the night will be available for order from Che Camille, online or pop down to her new place at the courtyard down the Barrowlands.
